Concealed Carry Course

Lead Instructor Sheriff Irwin Carmichael offers one of the best Concealed Carry Handgun Courses in the state of North & South Carolina. Join his team of skilled certified instructors and learn the fundamentals on how to exercise your Right-to-Carry (RTC), as well as learn the laws, legalities, and regulations of Concealed Carry. Also, for those that are current CCH permit holders we offer legal update classes as well.

CCH Course Eligibility Requirements

To register for our CCH course, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:


  • You must be 21 years of age or older
  • You must be a US citizen, a naturalized US citizen, or a lawful permanent resident alien

*You may attend this course before the age of 21, but you must be 21 to apply for the permit.*


*Note: This is an all inclusive course, includes, gun, ammo, eye, and hearing protection. All you need to bring is your drivers license.*

What to Expect from Your Concealed Carry Class Course Requirements?

As per state law, the concealed carry handgun course is 8 hours in length, plus required range time. If you do not own a handgun, we will supply the guns and ammo required to complete the range qualification portion of the class. Typically, we host our classes as a single-day course from 9-5 pm. However, we also provide limited courses over two days from 6-10 pm both days.


Upon completion of the course, you will receive an official certificate that is acceptable in all 100 counties in NC and SC will be given credentials to apply with SLED. You may use this certificate as proof of completion to apply for a concealed handgun permit.

I recently attended Sheriff Carmichael's 2-night/8-hour Concealed Carry Handgun training program in Huntersville. Mr. Carmichael's credentials are first-rate--30+ years in law enforcement--which was an important reason I chose the class. His course is a robust blend of hands-on, demonstrative, and classroom instruction. Our 11-student class was represented by a broad cross-section of the community, some with firearm familiarity, many without. Attendees were encouraged to ask questions, participate in training exercises, and examine options to de-escalate high-risk scenarios. Sheriff Carmichael emphasized safety, personal responsibility, and potential legal ramifications. There was an educational benefit to all. I highly recommend this program for anyone considering obtaining a CCH permit in North Carolina.
